The Danforth was once the largest Greek neighbourhood in North America, and many street signs are written in both Greek and English.
The annual August Taste of the Danforth, with its food stalls, live music and dancing, is one of the most popular street festivals in the city, often drawing in excess of 1.5 million people.
Danforth Avenue was constructed in 1851. The Bloor Viaduct bridge, connecting the Danforth to the rest of the city, was completed in 1919.
