The Beaches has a relaxed small-town vibe. Its sandy beaches and quaint boardwalk are a perfect summer destination . Vibrant Queen Street East features colourful shops, and intimate bistros alongside bakeries and ice cream parlours. The Beaches International Jazz Festival is an annual highlight.
The Kew Williams cottage, aka the Gardener’s Cottage on the edge of Kew Gardens just up from Kew Beach, and featured in this design, was constructed in 1902 by Kew Williams as a home for his wife.
The cottage was built from wood, stones, and limestone brought by boat from Prince Edward County.
First Nations, dating back over 10,000 years, including the Mississaugas, Seneca, Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat, inhabited this area.
