Southampton

Southampton, perched on the shores of Lake Huron at the mouth of the Saugeen River, is known for its long sandy beaches and quaint seaside atmosphere.

First Nations, dating back over 10,000 years, including the Ojibway, Wendat, and Anishnabe inhabited this area. 
 
Fur trading settlers, like Pierre Piche, arrived in 1818 and began trading with the Anishnabe who lived at the mouth of the Saugeen River.
