The Scarborough Bluffs ('The Bluffs'), a majestic escarpment, spanning 9.3 miles, 300ft above the the coastline of Lake Ontario, forms the eastern portion of Toronto's waterfront.


This iconic locale, contains many parks, recreational hiking and walking trails, picnic areas, restaurants, and a large marina with a boating club.


Bluffers Park, with its beautiful sandy beach, offers residents and visitors a way to enjoy the blue waters of Lake Ontario.


In 1650 when aboriginal populations first made contact with European explorers and settlers, "The Bluffs", went by it's Mississauga name of “”, reflecting its geographical position as the first creek below the high land.


The French, 'Les Grands Ecores', or tall points on the shore, also echoed this geographical position. The 'Bluffs' were later (1788) known as 'High Lands'. In 1793 Elizabeth Simcoe named them the 'Scarborough Highlands' as they reminded her of the limestone cliffs in her hometown,Yorkshire.
