Lake Simcoe
Lake Simcoe is Ontario's fourth largest lake. It was named after Captain John Simcoe in 1793.
Prior to that the lake was called Ouentironk meaning "Beautiful Water."
For over 10,000 years the Anishnaabek, Haudenosaunee and Wendat-Wyandot-Wyandotte peoples inhabited the shores of these beautiful waters.
The lake itself is 30 km long by 25 km deep.
Innisfil Beach, featured in this design, showcases the many recreational activities enjoyed on the Lake, like swimming, sailing, and kite surfing. Only 65km from Toronto, it is no wonder Lake Simcoe attracts visitors looking for a respite from the city.
