Hillier, established in 1823, is well known for its wineries, and an annual Park Day which takes place each August.
Hillier’s namesake, Major George Hillier, was a British Army Officer and secretary in the 1820’s.
Closson Chase Vineyard, featured in this design, is one of the many outstanding vineyards in Hillier.
First Nations, including the Wendat (Huron), Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), and Mississauga,
dating back over 8,000 years, inhabited the area. There were once over 500 first nations villages in PEC, and a population larger than the current one.
Samuel de Champlain came through the area in 1615.
