Harbourfront

SKU: 14

Harbourfront, a tranquil area on the shores of Lake Ontario, offers waterfront parks, trails, galleries, theatres and literary events at the Harbourfront Centre, established in 1991.

HTO Park, 'Toronto's Urban Beach', featured in this design, includes grassy hills, a long sand beach extending along the water's edge, stationary shade umbrellas and Muskoka chairs.

Prior to the 1600's when the French and later the English setup trading posts, this area would have been the territory of many first nations people including the Mississaugas, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples

Toronto’s Harbourfront district was created from landfill starting in 1850, in an effort to enable growth of the shipping, industrial and railway infrastructure along the shore. This continued into the 1950's, and set the groundwork for the hip urban locale we know today.
