Hamilton
Hamilton, a port city on the western banks of Lake Ontario, was founded by George Hamilton following the war of 1812.
Well known historically as a centre of industry and heavy manufacturing including steel, Hamilton began a shift in 2010 to service sector industries like health, sciences, and film production.
The list of film and television productions shot in Hamilton is long and includes such favourites as X-Men, Robocop, and The Handmaid's Tale (Shout out to our son Sam who had the good fortune to work on this production) .
Comedy fans will recognize Hamilton as the home of many SCTV alumni, including Eugene Levy, Martin Short, and Dave Thomas. Note also that John Candy attended McMaster University in Hamilton.
Hamilton boasts a number of Historic sites including Dundurn Castle featured in this design. Yes the Murdoch Mysteries were filmed here.
First Nations, dating back over 10,000 years, including the Ojibway, Anishinaabe, Mississaugas of the Credit, and Wendat inhabited this area.
