Halton Hills
Halton Hills, bisected by the Niagara Escarpment, within the Credit River's watershed, and with more than its share of Greenbelt, is a natural gem.
Limestone Conservation area, featured in this design, is a prime example of just how picturesque this locale is.
European settlement in the area began in the 1820's.
First Nations, dating back over 10,000 years, including the Ojibway, Anishinaabe, and Wendat inhabited this area.
The original Ojibwa name for the Credit River was Missinnihe, meaning "Trusting Creek."
It was later named the Rivière au Crédit, as French traders supplied goods to the First Nations people in advance (on credit) against furs which would be delivered the following spring.
