Eglinton Park
Eglinton Park, located in North Toronto, is a mecca for countless sporting and recreational activities.
With two baseball diamonds, soccer fields, a splash pool, a playground, the community centre ( indoor and outdoor pools, gymnasium, walking track and exercise room), and a hockey arena, there is no shortage of ways to occupy yourself at any age.
This locale, originally (1400's) home to a Huron-Wendat Village, housing about 500 people in longhouses nestled among corn fields, later became a brick yard (1885), before the park was purchased by the city in 1926 to function as an athletic field, and later, in 1929, renamed to Eglinton Park after the 13th Earl of Eglinton of Ayrshire, Scotland.
