Creemore

SKU: 135

Creemore, an idyllic small town nestled amongst the rolling hills that skirt the Niagara Escarpment, is filled with natural beauty and charm.

Our first written description of Creemore was provided by the French explorer Samuel de Champlain, in 1616, who wrote “The country is full of hill-slopes and little level stretches, which make it a pleasant country.”

Settlement of Creemore was began in 1842 by Irish entrepreneur Edward Webster. He named the village “Creemore” - derived from the Irish ‘cron mor’ meaning “big heart” in 1845. In 1993 Creemore became part of Clearview Township.

Creemore is now a vibrant community; home to the famous microbrewery Creemore Springs, the Copper Kettle festival, and Village Green, the revived town square that is the vantage point of this design.

Creemore is located within the boundary of Treaty 18 region of 1818 which is the traditional land of the Anishnaabek, Haudenosaunee and Wendat-Wyandot-Wyandotte peoples, who established communities and a complex network of trading routes. They transformed the landscape to accommodate agriculture and hunting practices, and inhabited the area for over 10,000 years.
