Cabbagetown
Cabbagetown is one of Toronto’s most popular neighbourhoods. Its residents share a strong sense of community spirit and pride in their neighbourhood, particularly in September, during the Cabbagetown Fall Festival.
Cabbagetown is recognized as the largest continuous area of preserved Victorian housing in all of North America.
Cabbagetown's name derives from the Irish immigrants who moved to the neighbourhood in the 1840s, and grew cabbage in their front yards.
Prior to the 17th century, the area would have been inhabited by First Nations people including the Mississaugas, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.
