Brockville sits on the St. Lawrence River and is well known for freshwater scuba diving. Brockville boasts Canada's first railway tunnel.
First Nations, dating back over 10,000 years, including the Iroquois, Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee, inhabited this area.
The area was first settled by english speakers in 1784. These were Americans, loyal to Britain, seeking refuge following the American War of Independence.
Brockville's sister city is Ontario, a city in California. It was developed by George Chaffey, a civil engineer and urban planner from Brockville in the late 1800s.
