Bedford Park

SKU: 45

Bedford Park, is a family focussed midtown neighbourhood with quiet tree-lined streets, parkettes, playgrounds, a community centre, library, and a local shopping hub with restaurants and shops. There are many excellent schools in the area, including Bedford Park Public School, featured in this design, which, in 1911, when it opened, was a four-room, two-storey building with 70 pupils, near a strip of dirt road we now know as Yonge st.This area, named after the Bedford Park Hotel in 1873,  began as a hamlet, popular with farmers as a stopover on their way to markets in the city. In 1890 Bedford Park was amalgamated with the hamlets of Davisville and Eglinton, and incorporated as the Town of North Toronto, and later annexed by the City of Toronto in 1912.
